By -8 5月2017

US casino operator Cordish Companies has come back with revised plans in its attempts to build a casino resort just outside Madrid with plans to bring a beach to the Spanish capital for the first time.

The €2.2bn complex in Torres de Alameda would now have a 15 acre manmade lake complete with beach at the centre of its new blueprint. It has also added a World Soccer Hall of Fame Museum to its initial plans along with cinemas, themed discos and a centre for e-sports.

It was told to revise its initial plans by the local government two months ago.

David Cordish, Cordish Chairman and Chief Executive, said in the FT: “It’s a 15-acre lake, which is perpetually cleaning itself. The water is crystal clear and blue. We are putting in a full beach. It will be Madrid’s beach.”

The plan is to build ‘Europe’s largest offer of resort style hotels, gastronomy and all kinds of entertainment for locals and tourists.’

Initial investment could reach as much €2.2bn and could reach as much as €3bn if market conditions allow. If it goes ahead the project will generate 56,433 new jobs, will drive tourism in the area and generate billions in economic development for the region. As well as gaming the resort will also offer four and five star hotels which will offer 2,000 rooms and could eventually offer as many as 4,000. The resort will also include a Broadway type theatre, a permanent circus and acrobatic facility. There will also be a large area dedicated to live concerts, as well as a comedy club and 16 cinemas including an IMAX Theatre. The new resort also aims to become an international shopping destination and will offer as many as 400 different shops.
